Late last year, PMI launched a Smart Start student initiative that seeks to make faculty who teach project management courses at academic institutions aware of an outstanding opportunity for their students to get a “Smart Start” in project management. “Smart Start” refers to an opportunity for students to apply for the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)^® certification and become PMI student members in one easy step.

We have received information from PMI regarding the PMP examination and changes to it.

As you know, the new Project Management Professional (PMP)® examination will be released on 31 August 2011 as a result of the recent Role Delineation Study (RDS). The PMP® RDS is the foundation on which this professional certification is based.

The RDS defines what project managers do, how often they do it and how important their work is. As the RDS is updated, there are resulting updates to the examination questions and process areas in the PMP examination application.

Updates to the Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification Exam

The Project Management Professional (PMP)^® credential examination will be updated in 2011, based on updates to the professional role of a PMP^® recently found in PMI’s Role Delineation Study (RDS).
