Posting Articles to PMIHNL.org Web Site Policy
The following provides a policy to PMI Honolulu Members posting articles to the PMIHNL.org Web site. The policy will be in effect once the policy has been approved by the PMI Honolulu Board of Directors.
- PMI Chapter members can submit articles written by themselves for posting to the PMI Honolulu Web site.
- The author of the article must be a good standing member with Project Management Institute (PMI) at the time of the submission.
- Content subject matter should relate to knowledge areas or process groups as defined by PMI.
- Article(s) will be submitted in editable word processing format, such as Microsoft Word or compatible software.
- Article(s) may contain pictures or diagrams should contain minimum page formatting to ease the process for Web site posting.
- Article(s) should be submitted via email to the PMI Honolulu Chapter Communications Director (

) with the following:
- Full name – First and Last Name
- Valid Email address – For replies and confirmation
- Contact phone number
- PMI membership number
- Within seven days of receipt of submitted article, the PMI Honolulu Communications Director will assign a certified PMP from the PMI Honolulu Chapter body to review the article for message content, clarity and editing. If appropriate and deemed most efficient for review processing, the submitter will be advised in email of the reviewers’ contact information for direct liaison between reviewer and author.
- The reviewer and the Communications Director have the editorial authority to make minor syntax, punctuation or spelling error prior to posting without the author’s express consent.
- Taking into account the recommendation of the reviewer, the PMI Honolulu Chapter has the final authority to determine if an article may be posted to the PMI Honolulu Web site.
- Within twenty-one days of submittal, the reviewer or the Communications Director will be in contact with the author on the results of the article review or whether further editing is required on the part of the author prior to final approval.
- The author will be notified by either the reviewer or the Communications Director prior to article posting.
- All articles will be converted to non-editable format such as.pdf format, prior to posting to the PMI Honolulu Web site.
- At the discretion of the Board of Directors, submitted and posted articles may be removed from the Web site without advance notice of the author.
- Professional Development Units earn must abide by the category and rules as written and enforced by PMI’s Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) program. Please refer to the latest CCR category and rules - http://www.pmi.org/Certification/Maintain-Your-Credential.aspx.

PDU Rule | You may not earn more than a total of 45 PDUs in the three “Giving Back to the Profession” categories per cycle if you hold the PMP and PgMP credentials. You may not earn more than a total of 20 PDUs in the three “Giving Back to the Profession” categories per cycle if you hold the PMI-SP and PMI-RMP credentials. |

CATEGORY D: Creating New Project Management Knowledge | Earn PDUs for creating new knowledge for the topic related to your credential area of expertise (project management, project risk management, project scheduling, or program management). Qualifying activities include:
Both the time required to prepare or create this knowledge and the time to present it can be claimed for PDUs. For example, when serving as a speaker, if a credential holder spent 7.5 hours to create their presentation and 1 hour to deliver it, this would count for 8.5 PDUs.
The PDUs claimed in this category count against the maximum of 45 PDUs (or, 20 PDUs for PMI-RMP and PMI-SP) allowed for “Giving Back to the Profession” categories (Categories D, E, and F).
