Topic Description: Hawaii Pacific University (HPU) has always valued experiential learning. Project-Based Learning (PBL) has played a major role in HPU's College of Business. This presentation will provide background on PBL, introduce HPU as a Center of Excellence in partnership with Telanto, an international platform for PBL, and showcase some of the student projects, including an organizational data audit, blockchain/DAO governance, and information security.
Learning Objectives: This event has the following learning objectives:
- Introduce HPU as a Center of Excellence for Project-Based Learning
- Analyze the "project" in PBL
- Review current topics in PBL at HPU
Speaker Bios:
Mark Rosenbaum, joined HPU in 2022, has a background in higher education and marketing. He started his teaching career at UH about twenty years ago.
Larry Rowland, co-founder of the PMI Honolulu Chapter has been active in Project-Based Learning while teaching project management.
Bernie Bengler left a career in information security to join HPU two years ago. Bernie has worked internationally and most recently was based in Germany.
Randy Baldemor has worked with the State of Hawaii, the Hawaii Tourism Authority, and is currently with Roberts Hawaii.
