Breakfast Roundtable with Dr. Larry Rowland: Project Management Education: An introduction to the "Five Pillars" approach and how it can be applied to and benefit project management success
PMI Honolulu Breakfast Roundtable
Topic: Project Management Education: An introduction to the "Five Pillars" approach and how it can be applied to and benefit project management success.
Facilitator: Dr. Larry Rowland
Date: Thursday, August 13, 2020 from 7:00AM-8:00AM
Topic Description: The "Five PIllars" theory is new to education. The pillars approach proposes that five basic concepts are the foundation for brain function and all learning: symbols, patterns, order, categories, and relationships. Given the five pillars, education can be reimagined to fit the brain's more natural style of learning. Many people "learn" project management by studying the PMI standards. Initiation into the PMP world is through a standardized test and on-the-job experience. I think we have all said, "One studies the PMBOK to pass the PMP exam, not to learn how to be a project manager." What if we could achieve higher levels of PM mastery quicker and more effectively through a different educational paradigm? Join us for a brief dive into the "Five PIllars" as a new approach to educating ourselves and others to be better project managers.
