Topic Description: Interactive Discussion - Moving from Waterfall to Agile project management tools, methods, and techniques

Please join us for a pilot of an interactive "Wake Up Wednesday" morning workshop that is open to all.  It is structured as a light activity followed by a case study.  

Agenda:

  1. Introduction (5 min.) -  Demming's work in Japan using statistics for Continuous Improvement (CI) dates back to 1950.  The first edition of the PMBOK was released in 1996.  The Agile Manifesto was issued in 2001.
  2. Activity #1 (10 min.) - Based on your knowledge or research, be prepared to answer the following for each framework:
    1. Objectives and Goals, including the problem it is trying to solve.
    2. Main Concepts and Aspects for the Framework.
    3. Artifacts and Methods of the Framework.
    4. Requirements - factors needed to successfully implement the framework.
    5. Pros and Cons of each Framework.
    6. Example of the type of project the framework is best applied.
    7. Who and what are the benefits of the particular method for:
      1. Building a condo
      2. Developing new software
      3. Increasing production rates
    8. For example: 
      1. Objective/Goal:  Steady work cadence, identify and eliminate obstacles and bottlenecks, refining an established process.
      2. Aspects:  Eliminate waste, amplify learning, decide as late as possible, deliver as fast as possible, empower the team, build integrity, see the whole.
      3. Artifacts/Methods:  Metrics on unit counts, production cadence, statistics.
      4. Requirements:  Requires a trained and empowered team (stop the production line - Toyota).
  3. Presentation (5 min.)
  4. Scenario Case Study (30 min.)
  5. Debrief and Closing Remarks (10 min.)
