More about this month's topic: The next evolution in urban mobility is to take to the air. Similar to how Uber transformed on-demand, ground based transportation, Urban Air Mobility (UAM) is poised to transform how we will move around our communities. UAM envisions on-demand air taxies to deliver passengers to their destinations as efficiently as possible. With the goal of reducing congestion and creating cleaner communities, companies like Uber, Boeing, and Bell are advancing a new passenger transport system that spans the space typically traveled on our highways while retaining the luxury of individual trip routing. By 2023, Uber plans to unveil a working commercial air taxi system, with air travel becoming a viable travel option for all by 2028.
Solutions such as Urban Air Mobility aim to enhance the user experience, while providing a space that is intuitive, inviting, and safe, and integrates current “last mile” modes of transportation – walking, biking, driving, scooters and mass transit. The concept is designed to be modular to adapt to differing demand conditions required in high-demand, suburban, and high-density urban centers. Is Urban Air Mobility a solution to your congestion problems? How will UAM impact travel your travel planning? Are you ready to welcome the future of transportation?
